I love almost any kind of mammal. We had a pet rat once, quite by accident. We inherited him from my son’s girlfriend. Her mother was going to kill him. He was adorable. The only problem was, he had to stay in a cage most of the time. Rats of course will chew your house up and pee every step. They have to be on cedar chips to control the smell of urine. He came when called, loved to be cuddled, and played well with the cats and dogs. We always set the timer when we got him out so we wouldn’t forget and let him have time to chew something up. He learned tricks, too.
