I need to change my expectations. Bud and I have been married a long, long time. He just called me out to the shop to see a Big Surprise. I was somewhat caught up in it since I had asked him to do a number of things for me. He had cleaned off his fly tying bench and installed some repurposed speakers. I couldn’t spot the surprise. Where would a person ever get the idea a surprise was for them? I need to work on myself.
Ha! This reminds me that my 5-year-old daughter equates the word surprise with present. I am desperately trying to get her to know they are not the same thing 🙂 Thank you for checking out my blog as well and giving it a follow – I appreciate it!

I kind of still think that.

Maybe the surprise was that he did anything at all. Maybe he’ll start on YOUR to-do list next.

I asked him yesterday, “How is my desk renovation going?” Him “It’s in the early stages.” Me “Oh, you haven’t started.” Him “I’m still thinking about it.”

Add me to the list of selfish people – to me a surprise means that I am part of enjoying it. I don’t think I want to change that mindset, though :]

Um, tricky….what about…still a child at heart, and surprises are exciting? (bit feeble I know, but I bet your face fell when you saw that ‘surprise’! )

Well, not really. We’ve been married forever. It was pretty typical. I got a Schaeffer pen and pencil set for Christmas the year we got engaged. One time for my anniversary he bought me a home made purse a woman came through selling where he worked. I think she was homeless.

Ah yes, an opportunity to show-off. I prefer the “look what I got you/did for you” kind of surprise, being as selfish as I am! 🙂
