There never used to be so many ‘kinds’ of valentines when I was young.

I know. I only saw the little ones school kids gave, except the nice ones Grandma sent.

Me either, but I loved counting how many I received at school (which was usually one for every kid in the class thanks to Moms and teachers, but it took me a couple of years to make that connection – lol). My grandmother used to send cards with slots for coins – as we got older she replaced the pennies with dimes. LOVED those.
When I was just a bit older, a boy I barely knew gave me a obviously expensive box of candy — the box itself was wooden, beautifully painted and lacquered, lined with velvet. Somewhere I got the idea that I wasn’t supposed to accept expensive gifts from boys (reading, most likely) and was about to refuse it when a wise teacher told me it would probably hurt his feelings. In retrospect, I wish she’d encouraged me to hang out with that kid!
Shared the amazing chocolates with my family and kept the box for years, until my mother asked if she could use it for notions in her sewing room. There it remained until her death. Today I’m thinking about that dear little boy, wondering whatever happened to him and how he would recount the story.
Pinned the first graphic to my ADD/EFD LOL board. Happy Valentines Day.

Yes and no. Her great grandmother died Monday so that put a damper on Valentine sweet celebration. ❤ ❤
