A priest, a minister, and a rabbi want to see who’s best at his job. So they each go into the woods, find a bear, and attempt to convert it. Later they get together. The priest begins: “When I found the bear, I read to him from the Catechism and sprinkled him with holy water. Next week is his First Communion.”
“I found a bear by the stream,” says the minister, “and preached God’s holy word. The bear was so mesmerized that he let me baptize him.”
They both look down at the rabbi, who is lying on a gurney in a body cast. “Looking back,” he says, “maybe I shouldn’t have started with the circumcision.”
Hey Linda,
May I leave you a short poem…William Blake captures something of the vibrancy of childhood and the merriment of nature’s bounty…I enjoy its quaintness, and as summer approaches, the warming weather and welcome sunlight (lol) here in the UK always brings a shine and good cheer to folk, and in that glow the sound of laughter 🙂
~ Laughing Song ~ by ~ William Blake ~
When the green woods laugh with the voice of joy,
And the dimpling stream runs laughing by;
When the air does laugh with our merry wit,
And the green hill laughs with the noise of it;
When the meadows laugh with lively green,
And the grasshopper laughs in the merry scene,
When Mary and Susan and Emily
With their sweet round mouths sing “Ha, Ha, He!”
When the painted birds laugh in the shade,
Where our table with cherries and nuts is spread,
Come live & be merry, and join with me,
To sing the sweet chorus of “Ha, Ha, He!”
Have a wonderful weekend 🙂

This is lovely. Somehow, I always thought of William Blake as somber. Thanks

You are most welcome 🙂
I agree, he is a little sombre for such a gifted man and visionary. I admire the breadth of his reach and the craft with which he expresses himself. One of several iconic luminaries who carry the epithet of genius I think and whose work reflects cosmic ideas and philosophies of consciousness. He was a deeply loving man who wondered at a grain of sand only to find a universe of Love in the smile of a happy song 😀
Enjoy Sunday Linda

Hey Linda,
This is so funny, it had me in stitches 😀
I think we share a sense of humour…and I do enjoy humour that involves such tender moments…perhaps it is a legacy of having once having attended a school whose student numbers were 75% Jewish? Can you imagine as a gentile how much laughter was to be had at an all boy’s school whilst growing up between the ages of 11 and 17 🙂 I must add of course that laughter was shared and I had many wonderful friends with diverse backgrounds and beliefs who I regarded equally upon their merits as wonderful people and close companions through school. But still…it’s funny right! 🙂
…I recall the school’s Physician, a chap whose name I cannot remember now, but who became a legend amongst the pupils when he was fired from his post. I am reliably told there was a ‘mistake’, a slip of some sort and apparently he got the sack lol 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend Linda.

You know funny is just funny. I love the quirkiness of life. I even it enjoy it when the joke is on me. It’s a gift not too take yourself, or life too seriously! I do hope your doctor’s error wasn’t during a bris!

Hey Linda,
I think you are absolutely right…’the quirkiness of life is what tickles the funny bone and helps keep us sane. Humour is a wonderful means of breaking down barriers between people, building bridges, repairing and healing, and strengthening relationships. It is an elixir of life and a wee dram from time to time is a necessity.
The doctor’s error would have brought tears to any young man’s eye’s 😉

If the whole world could take itself less seriously, what a fine place it would be! Thanks so much for commenting.

I totally agree, love and laughter: loving to laugh, or laughing to love, or even just a slightly bigger smile, every little helps 😀
Thank you, have a great weekend 🙂
